I wrote a post a couple weeks ago about D2C Healthcare, I wanted to drill down a little on where we believe the world is headed.

Over our 10 year history we have spent a lot of time investing towards the Sci-Fi future of #2 and #3.

We accelerated the future of finance/capital by investing in more than 100 Crypto related startups (In this article from 2014, we said we would… and we did). We invested in startups like Coinbase, Etherscan, Polychain, Unstoppable Domains, Nifty Gateway, ShakePay, Ripio and many more to push that future forward.

We spent a lot of time accelerating the future of “Connection” with people by investing in Virtual Reality. We have invested in 70+ VR startups over the last 6 years, where the killer application of Virtual Reality is “Being together.” (Here is an article from 2015) We invested in startups like TheWave, SideQuest, FitXR, TribeVR, PokerVR and many more!

The next important network for us to build will be in the future of Health. We believe there is a Sci-Fi future where you are proactive around your healthcare. Where no one is blindsided by disease. And there will be devices that monitor your health persistently rather than asynchronously from the comfort of your own home.

Alread we see sensors like the apple watch and the Whoop band track your heart rate. Covid tests being sent to the home is a huge habit change in the last few years. These habits will compound over the next generation and deliver unparalleled service.

I don’t feel we are early to this movement, but when thinking about the most important things, health is priority #1, and it’s about time we empower the individual with their health. We are looking for startups going direct to the consumer, helping the individual take control of their own health.
